about

These songs were recorded between June-December 2020 by Trever Smith.

Album art by Hazel A.M.S.

What follows are scattered thoughts about each song:

1. A song from 2008 that I have often thought about but never had a proper recording of. So, i recorded it. It is a song about Heath Ledger.
2. I have done a fair amount of work on my dear friend Jeff's Zenon Audition Japanese guitar. I made this song to document how hot i got the pickups after crafting custom cherry spacers as well as considerable shielding.
3. I came up with this riff on Jeff's porch.
4. I resurrected my sister Destiny's Indonesian BC RICH Mockingbird and this riff came out of it.
5. Jeff lent me his old midi keyboard and it took me a while to get it to make any sound but once i did, this was it.
6. I was commissioned to build a tiny house in Jeff's yard this summer. The morning i went to build the windows and doors i snuck downstairs and made this.
7. This is the first song i made after being reunited with my Brown Lasers (RIP) drum kit. This is the sound of a 26" Ludwig kick drum instead of the 18" First Act i had come to define as my Crap Factory kick sound.
8. This is my first exploration of the world of midi within the realm of Logic.
9. My friend Mike Gintz trusted me with refinishing his Godin electric guitar. I sprayed it with "cadillac green" lacquer and after wet sanding and reassembling it i was given this riff.
10. As this year has worn on, more and more things have gone wrong. A week before Thanksgiving my van shit the bed and after much investigation (c/o my Bash Bro Tristan) it was determined that the dealership was most qualified to figure it out. 2 weeks later (WTF!?!) i was informed that my warranty would not cover the cost of the extensive electrical work that my 2012 Ford Van required. Upon receiving this news, I was reminded of an old joke for a country song called "Pour Pour Me (another drink)".Despite not having a drink in almost 4 years I figured if there was ever a time to make a song with that for a title then this was it. The motivation is authentic. I had a lot i wanted to say about this year in this song. The lyrics for this were supposed to be placeholder lyrics. Then, they just became THE lyrics. This is the song.

Fuck you, 2020.

Its not that good; its not that bad.

Pour poor poor me another drink.
